On September 3, 2017, I became the recipient of the 2017 Gestalt Organization Systems Development (OSD) Lifetime Achievement Award. I have received other recognition from the Gestalt OSD Center and I have been honored to serve on the faculty for some time. I did with that recognition what I did with most recognition, look at it and put the certificate in the box and the award on the shelf then moved on to the next thing.
This award impacted me very differently. It was a complete surprise. I hosted a small party for clients, friends and colleagues to celebrate the 30th Anniversary of my company, MKM Management Consulting. I have been doing things all year as part of this milestone. So as I was talking, John Carter and his wife and business partner indicated that they wanted to say something. The next thing I knew they were bringing out the envelope and the box. I was a mess. It was caught live on tape.
But the important thing happened later. This award has an elite list of amazing people many of whom were founders and my mentors in Gestalt. They watched me grow up in the business for the last 20 years. The idea that the board and leadership team were talking about me and came to an agreement that I was masterful and were paying that kind of attention my work over the years was amazing. The acknowledgement that I have been making a difference in the world was so affirming. And the recognition and affirmation this award offered has had a profound impact over the last 45 days. I feel solid in a very grounded and centered way. I feel honored by people I have the utmost respect for, who I credit with my own journey to self-mastery. I feel seen in a new way. I feel seen for the body of work that I have done over a life time. I am affirmed that my intention to make the world a better place to learning and teaching unconditional love through supporting individuals leaders on their own journey to self-mastery has been successful. I am inspired to keep working to continue to make a difference for the next generation and share all that has been given to me. I am truly thankful and grateful for this blessing.
Happy Thanksgiving!
