I am always in awe of the energy that kicks in with the fall season. Something seems to happen as this particular season shifts. School starts. Fall sports begin. People get serious and more committed to their work and their goals. The pace of life seems to quicken. Some of this shift is years of training and indoctrination in our western culture. Some of this energy is the shift in the planet and our solar system. It is this energy that we want to magnify and capitalize on for the 4th quarter.
And this year, in particular, we are looking at what is possible and realistic given that we are in the next phase of the pandemic with variants springing up and the uncertainty that these new developments bring.
Sorting through such questions as:
∙ Should we go back to the office?
∙ Who should come back and when?
∙ Should people have the option?
∙ What if schools close again?
∙ Should we require our team members to have the vaccine?
∙ What about their rights to choose?
∙ What about our need to create a safe work environment for our teams and workers?
So many questions to consider. Since, it is also unclear whether COVID is a problem to be solved or is morphing into a long-term dilemma to be managed.
The Next 120 Days – Revisit your 2021 goals
I am also aware that we have about 120 days to meet our personal, leadership and organizational goals. Not only are we sorting through COVID questions, we are sorting through how to best use our time and energy through the end of the year.
∙ Where are we with our 2021 goals?
∙ What is needed from us and our teams to meet our goals for the year?
∙ What is realistic over the next 90 Days?
∙ What are your priorities, given where we are in the process?
∙ What is needed to support our potential goals for 2022?
∙ How can our actions now seed our success in the new year?
These questions send me back to my planning notes and revisiting my goals for both business and my life. Re-evaluating what I want and looking to discern what is possible.
Use the energy of fall, to support your thinking and creativity this month, so you are positioned to be your best on every front and to be ready for the new year as well. I have already put retreat days in my calendar for my team to start talking about all of these questions, concerns, and opportunities for growth. And I hope you will do the same.
