30 Years of Making Visions Real
2017 marks the 30th Anniversary of MKM Management Consulting. So this year, I am celebrating a life time of working with organizations and their leaders. It didn’t dawn on me what 30 years meant other than age until I was cleaning out my attic. There were lots and lots of boxes and as I began to sort through them, I found file after file of client work. Projects I hadn’t thought about in years both large and small. Like the first gathering of grassroots community building groups in Georgia that came together on a historic property, Presbyterian school for black students called Boggs Academy. At that meeting they created the Georgia Community Building Coalition. And remembered the many community plans my colleagues and I facilitated that allowed all members of the community including the grandmother, the teenager, the foundation representative, the small business owner, the teacher and the city council person to be in the same room sitting side by side and crate a joint vision for the community and its priorities as well as a plan to address those issues with or without new funding. These were proud moments as were the moments when leaders had a supreme break-through about what was getting in their way and the heavy energy would lift off their shoulders and they would move powerfully forward towards their goals being so much more effective in all of their interactions. This year, I am remembering and celebrating the work that has been done. I am in deep thought about what is needed in the future starting now as the future is being created right now. I am compelled to share what I have learned and the many lessons that I have gained over the years about change, about strategy, about what it takes for people to come together and move as one in the service of their collective goals and responsibilities. And I want to share what it has taken for me and other leaders I have served to sustain a business and build powerful and impactful organizations. So look to see blogs addressing these topics and more this year.
But first things first. I want to say thank you to all of the organizations and leaders who trusted me with their vision, their dreams, their staff, and allowed me to share my gifts with them in service of their mission and purpose. Below is the best list I can come up with of the organizations I have served over these years. If you have been left out, it was an accident and please send me your information so I can add you to the list. In supreme gratitude, Monika
